Adam Boyles, Music Director

Adam Boyles is a dynamic young orchestral conductor and singer. Currently, he is Director of Orchestras at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Music Director of the Brookline Symphony Orchestra (Brookline, MA) and MetroWest Opera (Weston, MA), and Staff Conductor with the Boston Opera Collaborative. For three years he was Music Director of the Southern Arizona Symphony Orchestra, and of the UT-Austin University Orchestra. Other guest conducting engagements include performances with the Muncie Symphony Orchestra, Tanglewood Festival Chorus, Austin Chamber Ensemble, Audio Inversions, and the University of Arizona Opera Theater. He was Staff Conductor at Opera in the Ozarks for two summers where he led and assisted with many performances. Boyles made his New York debut with the Manhattan School of Music Orchestra in 2004, and was invited for return appearances in April 2005 and March 2008. Adam has worked with such conductors as Gustavo Dudamel, Kurt Masur, Sir Roger Norrington, Gunther Schuller, and Helmuth Rilling.

As a vocalist, Adam performed in numerous operas with the Indiana University Opera Theater, and as a chorister in Arizona Opera’s first complete presentation of Wagner’s Der Ring des Nibelungen. He has sung with many professional choral ensembles across the US such as Conspirare, Apollo’s Voice, Mon Choeur, Cantique, and Tucson Chamber Artists. He was added to the roster of the Tanglewood Festival Chorus in September 2008. As a teacher, Dr. Boyles has held Instructor/Guest Lecturer positions at the University of Texas at Austin and the University of Arizona.
