Danielle Fortner, timpani

Dani Fortner is a freelance percussionist in the Boston area.  She recently received her Master of Music degree in Percussion Performance from The Boston Conservatory, where she studied with Keith Aleo, Nancy Zeltsman, Samuel Solomon, and the late John Grimes.

In addition to playing and teaching, Dani also is the Purchasing Coordinator at Grover Pro Percussion, a company that manufactures percussion instruments.

She has attended various summer festivals, including the Aspen Music Festival and School, the Rome International Summer Music Festival in Rome, Italy, the Chosen Vale International Percussion Seminar, and the Zeltsman Marimba Festival.

Musical theater is one of her greatest loves, and she has been a part of numerous productions over the years.  Dani can also be heard playing steel drums on an album entitled NYU Steel Plays Philip Glass that was released in 2011.

Since moving to Boston in 2011, Dani has performed with various ensembles including the Boston Civic Symphony, Salem Winds, the Charles River Wind Ensemble, the Harvard Lowell House Opera Orchestra, and the Dartmouth Wind Symphony.  Dani also has training in world percussion and chamber music and hopes to continue freelancing and teaching in all genres of music.
