Carlos Yepes

Carlos Yepes, Colombian double bassist, has performed with the Brookline Symphony Orchestra in both classical and contemporary repertoire, as well as with the Brockton Symphony Orchestra, Du Bois Orchestra, Chorus ProMusica, and Ankamo Ensemble. He previously spent ten years performing with the Orquesta Sinfónica de Caldas and the Orquesta de Cámara de Caldas, as well as appearing with the Orquesta Filarmónica del Valle and the Orquesta Sinfónica de Ibagué in Colombia. In addition, he served for twenty-three years as double bass professor with Fundación Batuta Caldas, sister organization of El Sistema in Venezuela. His musical background spans orchestral performance, chamber music, and collaborations in jazz, Latin, and popular music. Trained in Colombia under maestro Hernando Segura —himself a student of the renowned Oscar Zimmerman— Carlos is also an educator and arranger, dedicated to innovative approaches in double bass pedagogy and music education. Beyond the concert stage, he explores the connection between music and well-being through projects such as Yuma Kirtan. In the 2025–2026 season, he will make his debut as principal bass with the Brockton Symphony Orchestra. Now based in Boston, he combines an active performing career with his work as an educator and arranger.
