Mattéo Couplet
Mattéo grew up in Belgium, where he began playing the trumpet at the age of 6. He switched — or upgraded, as he puts it — to the horn at 22, studying with Rozanne Descheemaeker and Pierre-Aurélien Faller-Galerneau. A student and PhD candidate at UCLouvain, he was involved in the University’s symphony orchestra, with which he still tours across Europe every couple of years.
He crossed the Atlantic in 2024 to do postdoctoral research at Boston University, where he works on computational methods for 3D design and manufacturing. He thoroughly enjoys playing in local ensembles, including Longwood Symphony, New England Philharmonic, Apollo Ensemble, and the Brookline Symphony Orchestra. When not at work or on the horn, he is probably out skiing, kiteboarding, or enjoying electronic music shows.
