Sylvain Bouix

Sylvain has been playing the clarinet since he was a child growing up in France. An active amateur musician, he has participated in orchestras, wind ensembles, and contemporary ensembles throughout college and graduate school. Since his arrival in Boston in 2003, he has been performing with local community groups, including Mercury Orchestra, Harvard's Lowell House Opera, the Charles River Wind Ensemble, and many others. Sylvain is also passionate about chamber music, and has given performances at the Harvard Musical Association, Providence's Chopin Club, the Moakley United State Courthouse, and very much enjoys serenading his neighbors during Brookline's Porchfest. His primary teachers include Lawrence Maxey, Robert Crowley, and Michael Norsworthy.

When not playing the clarinet, Sylvain is either studying the brain using Magnetic Resonance Imaging, riding his beloved bicycles, or making Brookline's best waffles for his wife and son.
